San Francisco, California

If you’re dreaming of engagement photos that feel both timeless and cinematic, this San Francisco engagement session itinerary is honestly one of my favorite combinations for couples who want the best of both worlds. Starting at the iconic San Francisco City Hall gave us that elegant, editorial-inspired look with its beautiful architecture, soft natural light, and clean romantic atmosphere, while ending the session at Filoli Gardens brought in a completely different energy with lush greenery, intimate pathways, and playful candid moments together.
the SF dream photoshoot
I’m definitely no stranger to making the trip from Orange County up to San Francisco for engagement sessions, and this one started with a 5 AM wake up call to absolutely bust a mission to the city. Every time I photograph at San Francisco City Hall, I feel like there’s still so many new angles and compositions left to explore. The architecture, lighting, and endless layers throughout the building make it such a perfect location for couples wanting elevated editorial-style engagement photos.
For this session, I really wanted to push myself creatively by experimenting with different elevations, framing, and perspectives to capture something unique for the couple.
After City Hall, we headed over to Filoli Gardens where the entire vibe shifted into something softer and more romantic, almost like an intimate garden date together. Shooting portions of the session on 35mm film tied everything together perfectly and added that dreamy nostalgic feel the couple envisioned from the start. I honestly couldn’t be happier with how these engagement photos turned out.
