Serra Plaza, San Juan Capistrano
DREAMY DREAMY DREAMY. Probably the best word to describe the vibe I was going for when editing this wedding! Lately I’ve been craving a more nostalgic, cinematic feel in my work — something warm, moody, and reminiscent of those classic romance films you’d watch on an old projector. I’ve been experimenting with film stock, mixing in softer focus, and letting a little motion blur bring the images to life. It’s less about perfection and more about capturing the emotion in the in-between moments… the way the day felt rather than just how it looked.

Vintage Romance at Serra Plaza
Serra Plaza in San Juan Capistrano ended up being the dream backdrop for Nancy and Jason’s wedding and this whole creative direction. The textured clay tiles, the courtyard framed with archways, the way the golden light bounces off those Spanish-inspired walls — everything about the venue invites warmth.
There’s this incredible balance between elegance and earthiness here, and it naturally leans into that timeless, romantic mood without trying too hard. Watching Nancy and Jason move through those spaces felt like watching two characters wander through their own classic love story.
This edit definitely steps away from my usual clean, airy style. Instead, I embraced the richness — deeper shadows, warmer highlights, and that soft, filmic grain you can feel when you look at it. I slowed down my shutter to introduce a bit of intentional blur and relied heavily on film to pull those nostalgic tones out.
It was a refreshing creative shift, and Serra Plaza amplified every bit of that mood. Nancy and Jason brought so much heart to their day, and pairing their energy with this more cinematic approach made the whole wedding feel like a scene from a beautifully aged romance reel.
